I toss the leash over my neck, leaving the free end dangling down my right side.
As far as sending my dog away for training, I can't imagine doing this.
If one of the reasons of going to class is to strengthen the bond between you and your dog, I don't see how sending your dog away to be trained by somebody else accomplishes this goal.
I also don't see how having your dog trained by somebody else makes you a better trainer--assuming, of course, that's a goal you've set for yourself. What are you learning in terms of training if you don't train your dog?
If you want to help Gypsy with her off leash training and working under distractions, get in your car and drive her around to new places and work her there. |
