Re: When will my pup sleep through the night?

A pup ought to be able to "hold it" for at least 6 or 7 hours at night by the time he is 10 to 12 weeks old. During the day, if he is active, he'll have to go out every few hours because he is drinking and excited. But at night, pick up his drinking water after 8. Take pup out about 11, and once puppy is in his crate after his last trip to the yard, the lights are turned off, maybe cover his crate part way to eliminate drafts and light, and pup stays there until his master gets up. Ignore whining. If your pup really has to urinate more often, have him/her checked by the vet to rule out a urinary tract infection. Just like human babies, these little critters figure out really quickly how to get attention. Enjoy your pup.
