As one who is working on the same type of things, I don't think you're off your rocker at all......in fact - can I use your idea???
Bandanas tend to attract people, so I'd use a vest. I think I'd put something like this on it:
I'M IN TRAINING
Can We Visit Later?
Sort of a polite way of telling people, "Leave It!"
