Well, I think that you are way ahead of many who start out in the breed ring instead of the obedience ring. You know that you need to have control of the dog, the dog needs to gait properly, do a nice straight down & back and self-stack after coming back to the judge.
I think a lot of what is lost on newbies in the ring is the exact way to present the dog so that the judge has the best opportunity to get a good look at the dog.
Be sure the dog will stand, stack and stay in place while the judge goes over him and make sure that the dog will allow the judge to exam his teeth.
