You keep them totally separated for the approximate 4 weeks she is in season. At 8 months he is old enough to have the urge to breed and there is a good possibility he could get a bitch pregnant. You don't need to risk the possibility of him injuring himself or your bitch.
Why not get him neutered and her spayed? That way the whole family can live in peace and not worry about accidential breedings or your dog getting frustrated.
Why have all these intact dogs around if you are not going to be showing and titling them?
