It's an admirable goal, but understand it's not for all Rotties. It's a stressful position to put a dog in, to understand all the "differences" and to take it all in stride doesn't always equate the same way to a GR as it does to the Rottweiler. Lots of dogs thrive in this field, others, it wouldn't be as much fun for them.
The most important thing to understand is what your dog "truly" has to offer
and the only way to do that is to put your dog to the test in multiple venues. Temperament, age and experience make for the best guages of what compile a good therapy dog.
