**A city official has advised that Grain Valley is not pursuing BSL. A copy of the new proposed ordinance has been requested, however, the same has yet to be received. Until then, we can only assume BSL is still on the table.**

Oklahoma statewide
Representative Paul Wesselhoft has vowed to propose BSL in the next legislative session. We've already had reports from citizens in Oklahoma that this, in fact, is true. After his proposed statewide ban on pit bulls failed last legislative session, his new proposal will be "in a form to allow cities to make their own decision to ban any dog if they think it's in the public interest."

Next city council meeting is Tuesday, September 5, 2006. The agenda can be found at:
City of Lawrence : Your site for city services.
City commissioners will hear concerns about the dangerous dog ordinance from Lawrence resident Kathy Gragg, whose dog has been cited because of the ordinance.
City staff members are not recommending any changes to the dangerous dog ordinance. They say the law, which can require owners to keep their dogs muzzled or in a secure cage, has been effective in reducing dog bites. The law also allows the city’s Municipal Court to order a dog to be put to sleep if it is a repeat offender.
BSL PASSED
Independence, Missouri
The new ordinance would ban new pit bulls in city limits. Owners of pit bulls already living in Independence will have to register and microchip the dog, and the pit bulls must also be spayed or neutered
BSL Passed but being challenged
Clinton, Mississippi
A hearing on this matter was scheduled to take place on August 30, 2006, however, the judge recused himself. A new judge must be assigned to hear the case, and no new hearing date has been set.
