I have not posted for quite a while. I am still searching for the right Puppy. I am on a waiting list though. Please wish me luck.
In my searches I have talked to many breeders and I have been recently contacted with an opportunity to acquire an older puppy, that looks like a he may grow to be a real champion. I have been sent photos and some background information on the sire and dam and a breeder I know has imported his sister from Australia. My question is... How do I check to see is the health certification claims (hips, elbows, heart, and eyes) are genuine? As far as I can tell the hip test is done by local vets and not by an anonymous panel. Is there an equivalent registry in Australia like the OFA in the USA?
Does anyone have any other information about breeding and health standards in Australia? Any recommendations?
I am a bit hesitant to ask the breeder who imported the sister, because she is the one trying to rehome this pup with me. She is actually offering to share in the shipping expense for rights to this pups sperm if he is the Champion she thinks he is. She seems to be very good, but it is a conflict of interest. She cannot keep this male pup, she has too many dogs by my count already.
Before the questions start. I am not looking to import all the way from Australia and am leaning heavily to saying no to this offer. But I would like the information to see if all this is genuine or not. Thank you all, ahead of time.
