I would not worry about the size either.

Here are my females weights at that age:

Delila (Rottweiler) 17 weeks - 43 lbs
Laika (Rottweiler/Husky) 17 weeks - 35 lbs

There weights now are:

Delila (Rottweiler) 12 months - 90 lbs
Laika (Rottweiler/Husky) 6 months - 47 lbs

We also have a male Rottweiler Odin who weighs 120+ at 22 months.

The weight difference does not matter. All we did was train the larger dogs to play "nice" with the smaller dogs. That is the "command" we use - "nice". We also have cats so the dogs have to be "nice" to them too.

In my opinion a 17 week old rottweiler mix can weigh anywhere from meduim size (40-60 lbs) or large (60+). It all depends on what the mix is.

I have heard that a good rule to follow is to take the dogs weight at 16 weeks and double it to guess full grown size. That would land you at about 70 lbs. This theory is not that far off. Delila was 40 lbs at 16 weeks, and now weighs 90 lbs - so the guess was 10 lbs off.

Always remember though a slim dog is a healthy dog. A dog will only get as large as it is genetically programmed to. Feeding will not effect this.

Good luck with your new baby and have fun :)

Did you know that every 4.5 seconds a cat or dog in america is "put to sleep"?
