This is a good idea. Also, once the pup starts walking, don't coddle him if he acts up with the leash. Just keep walking in a steady, confident manner. Your pup will soon learn to follow.
Sometimes I walk as may as 7 or 8 dogs of all ages and sizes at once. There is always one who has to balk, or lie down, or be silly. My solution is to ignore them and keep walking at the same pace. They keep up soon enough!
Your dogs are still young. They'll learn the ropes in no time!
