after rethinking the penny can........I have to agree with you. All dogs of any age can be trained.........without the penny can. Puppies learn best by the old method of yelping, and stopping all games or petting when the nipping occurs.......and then ignore them. For puppies that continue to nipp, after the first method......then timeout is best.

Most people don't realize that some puppies, it takes longer for them to learn not to nipp......others learn faster. But if they stay consistent and patient the puppy will learn.

I was just remmebering when my 5 1/2 year old heeler was a pup, I too used the penny can, not for nipping but for doing other things. AND it was terrible how it scared him so. So I did stop using it because, it seemed to me there had to be another way.......and their was.

Soooooo I HAD to take back what I said from the previous relpy I made.......about the penny can.
