Please find a new vet. Sometimes you may have to interview a few to find one that really knows rotties. The right vet for you will put you at ease, give you a good feeding schedule to follow and allow you to ask all the questions in one visit. A good vet will understand that some dogs hate going to see them and will not make you think that you are at fault for the dog's momentary unhappiness. A good vet will understand how much you love your dog and will help you with your pup. Good luck and please give us an update.
