| Re: hips and elbows. I don't like to knock my dogs out at the best of times, and there are many vets now who can do excellent x-rays without using anesthetic. If you need to, request the reversible one so that they are not knocked out entirely, just more calm.
My vet will take as many slides as is needed to get a good shot as well, not just one and go. She also allows me in the room with the dogs to help if needed. If you are planning to get the x-rays done, ask what their methods are, if they require anesthetic, if so what kind and if they will use the reversible kind. There are many options nowadays, just a little leg work required.
