Thers is some veterinary medicine significance to "black and tan". It's not actual color (as in "tan versus rust"). There are other "black and tan" dogs besides Rottweilers in the vet medicine language. I believe that there are some typical antibiotics which are dangerous for the "black and tan". I'll check next time I'm at the vet, though there are probably several people here who know already.
