| they can have vaginitis.
with a pyo, there are 2 forms.
a closed and an open case.
closed pyos usually don't drain, dog is lethargic, fever, may vomit, high white blood cell count, abdomen may appear bloated/distended,xray shows a large uterus.
in an open case, you see discharge, from a white pus like creamy discharge to a bloody/brown discharge.may or may not smell right away, dog can still feel ok and act normal because its draining or can show above signs/results.
sometimes if pyo is very early stage, bloodwork may still appear normal.
if still discharging, i would repeat bloodwork and send out a vaginal culture to see if has any other pathogen raeson...and maybe consider an xray.
how old is she?
most pyos are common in intact bitches over 5.but can happen anytime.
sometimes(more rare),in a spayed bitch and it's called a stump pyometria,which
is the part that stays behind of the uterus neck after a spay.
vaginitis or infection of urinary tract can also cause discharge, that's why i'd suggest cultures.
