| Female leaking urine, ectopic ureter?
Young bitch constantly leaks urine...drip...drip...drip! Cleared of possible urinary infection or Herpes. Tried remedies for a weak sphincter muscle of the bladder. Next thing the vet wants to check is ectopic ureter. As I understand it, the ureter is connected to the urinary tract rather than the bladder which causes leaking. To rule out ectopic ureter she will have to be injected with a radioactive isotope and xrayed. If this is the diagnosis then it will require surgery to reconnect the ureter properly.
Any other ideas what could be the cause of this leaking problem? Anyone have any experience or helpful information about ectopic ureter? Is this a congenital defect?
