| If you go by the AKC standard, a few white hairs are not considered a fault, even though you rarely actually see them in show dogs. You'd be surprised how many Rotties have seen a pair of tweezers before entering the ring!
A white patch, on the other hand, is considered a serious fault, though not a disqualifying one.
Even the best of breeders will have the occasional pup with a "serious fault". As some of the others have said, I would take my cue from the breeder's reaction. If it is pointed out and explained that the pup is "pet" quality because of it that is one thing. If the breeder does not come clean when asked directly, I'd be wary. Who knows what else they're glossing over.
The most important thing your brother should be asking about are the health tests (HD, elbow, etc) and I would expect the breeder to be upfront, with certificates to prove his claims, if he is reputable. |
