I would think it would not show itself for a minimum of 6 - 24 hours or more. I sleep with spongy earplugs (bright orange). Apparently during one of our morning wakeup rituals, which includes ear kisses from my dog, he injested the earplugs. I didn't think twice about waking up without them as they sometimes fall out.
About a day and a half later....I said, "What the h....?!" 2 bright orange something or other's in his poo. Yup.....
MY EARPLUGS!!
