But don't forget, the vet also listens to hearts (we have two of them listen), checks their general health, usually does a fecal float, vaccinates and in our case, microchips the puppies (in Canada, pups MUST have a tattoo or microchip prior to leaving the breeder per the Animal Pedigree Act...failure to identify carries a heafty suspension with the CKC).
For us, that runs about $60/puppy even when we supply our own microchips. The pups who cross the border also need an International Health Card which is $40/puppy. One thing I have found different here than in the US is that many vets are willing to come and do this at the breeder's home which is a nice option.
