| Re: Dutch MAG test/ ZTP at November 21st. 2004 Good morning,
Thank you for your reply. It sounds maybe unfriendly but the KNPV trials are no option for me. I do not find them suitbable for our breed.
The Rottweiler is too heavy and for this kind of sport and sometimes also not fast enough. I do have quite some people who want a dog for the KNPV sport and I will only considder the thought of selling a dog to somebody who does this type of sport when I am absolutely convinced that the person only does this for sport and not for the money and that if the dog/bitch is not suitable for these extreme sport it still can stay with the family.
Many of these persons in the Netherlands who do this type of sport train the dogs and once they have a certificate PH 1 or more on the dog they do sell the dogs to the police etc. Also to the USA, Korea etc.etc.
For some people it is extra income and the sooner a dog has a certificate the better it is.
They do train their dogs quite often 3 till 4 times per week.
For the KKNPV sport they do use the Malinois, Dutch Shepherd dog, sometimes the German Shepherd dogs and the crossed breeds from KNPV lines. Also in the past was the Bouvier knows as a good KNPV dog. Unfortunally this has changed during the last 25 years.
For the Malinois and German Shepherds there are a few kennels in the Netherlands specialised in breeding correct dogs, confirmation wise and for good hips and elbows etc. who can forfill the heavy KNPV programm. These dogs do have the official pedigree of the Dutch Kennelclub.
The breeders/owners of these kennels are in their breed already for a very very long time and know more about bloodlines than anybody else.
If I do a breeding and raise a litter I want the pups to go to homes were they do understand our breed, were the new owner will love the dog and tries to have fun with the dog. If it turns out to be a great dog/bitch for confirmation or working it is nice and great. But I do not sell my dogs to somebody when I do know upfront that once they have achieved the certificates the dog/bitch will be sold for the highest price. Therefor I do not spend many many hours to my pups, youngsters and adult dogs and to the breed overall.
Also I do have quite often some problems with the methods who are sometimes being used at the KNPV trainingclubs to achieve their results also at the IPO trainingsfield I do not like certain methods of training. And I have at this moment achieved with many dogs of my own breeding results at this part of the sport that I think I am entitled to say this.
There are some videos available in the USA with the KNPV programm so you are able to see what will demanded from dog and trainer.
Hope you do understand my point of view.
Have you all a nice day.
sincerely,
Kiene Zandbergen
