Have you considered crate training him? With sufficient exercise and walks he's old enough not to have to go to the bathroom every couple of hours so he should be fine if he's in a crate. It would be cheaper than replacing furniture
. You might do a search (upper right corner) for previous discussions on crate training and the use of toys, bones, etc., to keep a dog occupied while it's alone.
