Melissa, I agree with you there, but when reading about and then purchasing a product like DAP or a homeopathic, it is made clear that behavioral modification goes along with the remedy.
I would certainly consider DAP...I am already using a homeopathic remedy by Natrio Bio called Emotional Relief on my Maggie who is a nervous and sometimes fearful girl. I use behaviour modification on her as well, but what the remedy appears to do is it calms her, so she can stay or switch back to social mode and take instructions easier. Even if she switches into defense mode, she switches back faster using this remedy.
In keeping her calmer, she has more time to think before reacting..it has also helped with her relationship with Bailey.
It does not tranqualize her in anyway, actually, she is also much more playful and just all round happier...lots of big , wide Rottie smiles, where there used to be so much worry in her face most of the time. It's liquid drops, given only once a day, first thing in the morning now..when starting for the first two weeks, it was given two or three times a day.
This remedy costs about $8.00 a month..pretty inexpensive and thus far, very effective.
Even the DAP, which is advertised for about $30 for a month's supply (a $1 a day) is a small price to pay to relieve anxiety and stress in a dog and it's owner.
