| Re: limping A proper view of the elbows requires sedation ........... or at least, I've simply gotten used to that requirement as the vets that tried to do my dogs without told me they are simply too darn strong to position correctly without. My elbow xrays have all been for OFA, but still that position gives the best view. I also would prefer that my dogs be sedated than wrestled with which I feel has long term consequences in their relationships with the vets. Hips are a different matter than the elbows but since I always have both done at the same time, I use sedation.
I suggest that a dog that has been limping after exercise all it's life warrants xrays. There is quite often something that can be surgically corrected with good results. Not always, but often enough. |
