| More on osteosarcoma NCI/COG Dog Project
Since osteosarcoma is the most common bone tumor in dogs and behaves similarly in dogs and humans, research in dogs will lead to discoveries that are beneficial to both animals and humans. IU is a key partner in the only national network studying drugs in dogs with osteosarcoma. We are working with veterinarian scientists at NCI to identify new serum biomarkers (substances in the blood that indicate a certain cancer is in the body). This will allow us to customize treatments for patients and predict if treatments will be successful.
