| Xena has left This morning my Xena left this Earth and her deteriorating body. Over the last week she had gone down hill so much, I knew my decision was the right one
Xena was the perfect family dog and the one the kids always wanted to walk because she was polite and did not take advantage of their size. She snuggled politely and always just wanted hugs without being rude, licky or pushy
Aside from one time only, she never chewed up anything, she was not destructive. She lay quietly and just enjoyed people time. Even when just an 8 week old baby
Xena was the perfect hiking partner, actually perfect for anything we did. She would do anything I asked, just because she loved me. She would do it even if she was afraid, just because she loved me.
Xena loved me so much it was often eerie. She would face her fears because I said so, she climbed down a mountain in the fog and rain so thick you could not see, but with my hand on her collar she led me off the rocky, slippery slope.
She showed us that she would protect me with her life if need be, any time, any where.
The perfect dog, the perfect love..... you can't have that forever. That would be too selfish.
Xena has gone to join her daughter Darla and her littermates at the bridge near the gates of Heaven and when I die my perfect dog will be there waiting for me
Frontier Highland Breeze HIC OFA excellent, Cardiac clear 9/15/97 - 1/12/04
