What he does.... for instance....he will go over a couple of jumps and while he is running towards the next obstacle he will catch a whiff of something...he will keep running but going slower and only half watching where he is going...slows us down and his concentration is off.....this is an outdoor problem and the cause of a number of nq's....doesn't happen all the time...seems whatever he is smelling is more important to him than what he is doing at the moment!! |
A Rottweiler who likes to use his nose... We only began agility training with Bella in September. Of all the dogs in our class, she's the most interested in sniffing the ground on the course than all the other dogs. It's been quite a challenge to get her to focus on the course rather than finding treat crumbs she might find lying around! I don't know whether it's because she's more food focused than the rest or really does have a keener nose.
She'll move briskly through part of a course and then suddenly stop to sniff and then lick the floor. It's been a real challenge keeping her focused! Did you have these kind of problems with Elijah in the beginning?
