| Tail Docking
Please can anyone tell me why Rotties had their tails docked originally.
I appreciate it is the breed standard, but unlike some working field dogs like spaniels, I can't work out why a rottie had theirs docked in the first place. They were herding dogs at one point, yet other breeds doing a similar job didn't have their tails docked.
This is just a point of interest.
