| A very caring English gentleman examined her last evening.
He doesn't believe it is an injury as this wasn't sudden, but rather a deterioration over 15 days at which the tumor in her abdomen continued to grow rapidly and other smaller ones have appeared within the last week.
Because she has no pain in her legs it could be Degenerative Disease of the Nervous System but more likely he believes that the tumors are cancer (metastasis) and that they have spread to her spinal cord causing complete hind end paralysis.
He said he very sorry, there is no treatment other than Prednisone which she is already taking in high dosages. He told me she is on the best medication possible and if there was any signs of improvement he would agree to give her more time, but there isn't, in fact it is quite the opposite. He said give her another 1-2 days to be entirely sure.
He also indicated that yes he could x-ray or do an ultrasound if I insisted on a more precise diagnosis but when the prognosis is extremely poor and her age is taken into consideration, he asks why.
He was faxing his opinion to my vet.
I have called my vet and left a message for Dr. Ron to call me. I'd like to make an appointment for preferable tonight (or tomorrow) to send her to the bridge. :( It's the best I can do. |
