Any breed can throw tailless dogs, it's a vertebral-column mutation. In some breeds, that mutation is selectively bred for, but even breeds selectively bred for taillessness can throw tailed dogs, just as tailed breeds can throw tailless dogs. A tail or lack thereof is no indication of an animal's purebred status, it's a mutation which can occur in any breed (and almost any species, for that matter).
