I have a friend who would dearly love an animal, even a cat. But she is terribly allergic to just about anything on four legs- she can't spend more than 15 minutes in my house without tearing up and starting to sneeze and itch. I usually go to her house to visit.

Good for you, anyhow - I hope it works out! I've no experience with allergies...I think I would just be a completely different human being if I hadn't had the freedom and opportunity to be an animal geek since I could barely crawl.
