| My vet recommends a black tea compress for an hour or so every day. The tannins help the raw skin to heal and toughen. I make it with a giant Lipton teabag soaked in a little hot water for a while and then cooled, then make a cut in it and press to pad and put a plastic baggie around it and some masking tape to hold. You might need an e-collar if your dog can't resist chewing his bandage. They get used to the collars. Sometimes it's the only way!
You should definitely check again with a vet though because the risk of infection is high. Keep any bandage besides the tea compress clean and dry. |
