Our breeder is totally involved in herding and encourages her dogs to give it a try. We haven't taken Makita over, she's only a year old and it's a hundred dollar trip cuz we have to take a ferry. Her dad is a herder though, I tell that to people when they question our choice of breed. I say "her dad HERDS sheep, he doesn't EAT them". That usually has some impact.
