| I'm so glad Xena never did any of that!
I crate trained her and made her crate a quiet place and when she goes in there, she gets a treat! She knows when it's bedtime. She will run over to her crate and sometimes it's hard to get her blanket settled in well before she goes in there, LOL.
We go to bed quite late, and she will sleep as long as I want her to in the morning. I guess I'm lucky! She's almost 4 months old.
All I can say is make sure your pup is getting enough good quality food during the day, and plenty of potty time before you go to bed at night. Also, if the puppy starts to whimper, do not just give in and get the puppy out, that way the puppy wins and is rewarded. If you believe your puppy needs to go potty, wait until she is quiet before you let her out. I can usually tell the difference between a "I need to potty" whimper and a "I'm bored and want some attention whimper." When Xena whimpered because she just wanted out, I would either tell her to settle or say AH AH in a growly voice. It worked for us! Xena did this for a few days after we got her and all I said was AH AH, and she usually settled unless she really needed to go potty.
Also, is your puppy sleeping in the same room as you?
I don't know if any of this will help in your case, but it has worked for us. The crate is a wonderful thing! :)
Good luck!
