I guess that one of my problems is when it is the dogs running in packs. Nothing angers me more than to be on a drive through the countryside and spot a pack of four to six dogs roaming freely anywhere that they want to go.

I liken this to a big crowd at a concert that roars out of control and a riot breaks out. Same theory with a group of dogs, all it takes is one to START chasing the guy on the bike, and before you know it you have three or four perfectly good dogs caught up in the act, and they join in. Chaos follows.

I live in an area where it is very common to let a dog run loose. In fact I would venture a guess that 8 out of 10 pet dogs in my area are not restricted in any way shape or form as to where they can go or not go. The wise ones choose to stay in the yard, the ones who don't typically don't live very long. It sickens me. If it does not kill them early, it sure does not help the unwanted population of puppies.

People who let there dogs wander freely need to reconsider how much they love their pet. Would you turn your child loose with the excuse that they need the room and let them wander with no supervision whatsoever?

Forget dog attacks....what about a cement truck, or a deep forgotten well, or a spike in the dirt...whatever. All kinds of dangers for a dog out there, and no one who lets them run free seems to care. They think that they are doing the dog a favor. What they are truly doing is limiting the life span of a perfectly good animal.

They need to take more responsibility. I am sorry, I do not mean to beat a dead horse to death...

Boy does the subject get my blood flowing...

I agree with every word you post on all of these forums German...
