| I called Patti for the birthdate this morning but she is at work.
It is a purebred and I will ask for sire and dam also. I have not had any of my rottweilers live past 11 years but my Siberians have reached 16 years. The AKC has no way of knowing which are still alive as most pet owners don't send the papers in when the dog dies.
Patti seems fairly determined as she contacted The Guiness Book of World Records but was told they don't keep records by breed.
I married a German Shepherd man and his dogs only lived to 10 or 11 before encountering problems. Yet GSDs are one of the breeds I always hear people saying, "We had a shepherd when I was a kid who died at 17"..... Hmmmmm.:) |
