Storm, you're very generous!! But I'll venture to say that you're the only one here who's looking upon me that charitably at this point! I can just hear the teeth gnashing as other forum members are reading along.
I realize that my last post may have given the impression that I had been tolerating Diesel's misbehavior with strangers up until the very last incident, but that isn't the case at all. I gave him tremendous corrections every time it occurred, but only with my new trainer has it really come under control. My anxiety over the problem had actually been enormous; I hope that no one comes away from this thread believing that I ever cultivated this attitude in Diesel. My husband did make a mistake with his little 'tests'. It was a serious lapse in judgement, but nothing of the kind had been done before nor will ever happen again.
I'm thinking we're lucky to have a dog who takes the fumbling mistakes we've made in stride! I suppose he gives us high points for trying, at least. :)
