| Vicki Awesome article..., thanks so much Diane for brining it to our attention. Great read and hard to argue with. I never understood why my dog wants to lick my hand before we go out for walk..., now I've got a good idea why :)
Her lick is not like dominance she cowers and approaches awkwardly.
Some peoplee write that no well trained dog licks or touches a persn's handwithout being told to do so.... I really dn'thae a problem with my dog licking my hand if sheis only trying to impress me because I am her alpha.
She certainly takes my lead in everything we do togther. She doesn't guard food but I'll take her bowl away anyway so she doesn't get any bad ideas. She does try to take-off or leave my close contact when she has been supplied a "high-end treat"
I can usualy get it back unless she gobbles too fast...!
I still suspect that she is a subtle "social climber" with my kids....
So we watch that closely. I try to have them feed her as much as possible. To help renforce their social position within our pack family.
