Chicago DID IT!!!!

If you never buy another issue of DOG WORLD magazine; buy the April 2002 issue!!!

If you live in Chicago and allow your dog to run unleashed an it results in a bite, you might spend some time in jail :D

If the dog is deemed dangerous (note: if the DOG is deemed dangerous....not BREED....DOG) you have 10 days to neuter, microchip and purchase no less than $100,000 of liability insurance..... at your expense of course :D

IN ADDTION (the article goes on to say...) in several places in the dangerous DOG ordinance...the wording was changed from "dangerous dog" to DANGEROUS DOG OWNER reflecting the role irresponsible dog ownership plays in the behavior of their dogs.

Alderman Shirley Coleman.....(remember her?? "Ban Pit Bulls and Rottweilers....force those breed owners to carry heavy insurance....BSL is needed... blah blah blah") well she assembled a task force of Veterinarians, ACO's, ASPCA, HSUS personel...etc....who got together and drafted the DANGEROUS DOG ACT.

Isn't it funny how if you turn to people who KNOW animals and behavior....instead of off-the-cuff emotions and panic....very intelligent laws and ordinances can be passes that rid the streets OF dangerous DOGS.....and kick their owners square in the teeth :D

Forget Cleveland......CHICAGO ROCKS!!!!! :D
