| You are completely correct BIGWRIGHT! :)
I have always been very careful to note that although a breed might not be right for me, they're a perfect fit for someone else.
Personally, I would never own a Siberian Husky. But I know of a couple who are seriously active hikers! Their Sib. is a perfect match for them! He can take the colder temperatures they often encounter, has the stamina he needs and isn't so large to impede his own movement. PERFECT! Every breed developed to serve a purpose - just because that purpose doesn't match you, doesn't mean that it won't match someone else!
I think it's time for our respective Kennel Clubs to take a leadership role. Currently, they only track purebreds and show points. For the average pet owner, they'll never encounter the AKC or CKC. I don't know about you, but if I was asked to 'help' or to 'participate', I would! But that day will never come because our Kennel Clubs don't seem interested in expanding their roles.
Maybe we need to establish a new association "The International Dog Owners Association" which will act on the behalf of all breeds; which will stand and represent everyone against puppy mills, abuse, breed bans, dog ownership education, dog mauling support, etc.
Who would be interested??? Without participation, we'll be at a loss without it. If you aren't willing to say yes now, you might as well support banning breeds. Silence = Acceptance.
